- This should be a long update, but I'm going to keep it brief. After 3 very
long days of preparation, the 377 roared to life today! Well, ok, it didn't
exactly roar up right away. It took about 4 hours to debug that the brand
new Accel 300+ ignition box wasn't working. I finally gave up on it and
pulled the MSD 6AL off the shelf, wired it up in about 5 minutes, and then
tried again. I was greeted with the amazing sounds of a small block Chevy
motor coming to life with open headers! It was amazing! :)
I now have MUCH tuning to do. I'm going to be learning how to operate the
SpeedPro ECU the hard way... I don't have an authorized dealer/tuner for the
units near me, so I will be learning on my own. First thing I have to do is
get the static timing advance dialed in. I'll be doing that soon. Then I can
start playing with the fuel tables. That will be the fun part! :)
- The other thing which was accomplished today was the installation of the steering
shafts. My father was down helping out, and he helped me finish the u-joint
location. We made up a bracked to locate the supporting rod end, and all is now
good. That's one less thing to worry about! :)
- So, now I'm going to remove the Accel box, mount the MSD box on the driver's
side of the firewall, rewire the engine compartment, and start to finally
assemble the front end of the car! I'll put the passenger side fender on first,
and then work my way to the driver's side. I need to finish up my clutch install
(master cylinder), and wire/locate the MSD box, and then the driver's side
fender can go one. Then the car will really start to look like a car! :) Look
for some picture updates soon...
