- Wow! It's been a long time since I updated this... Sorry! Honestly, there hasn't
been a lot to report unfortunately. However, this past weekend, some major progress
was made!
- On the body, we finally managed to get it back in one piece again! Woo hoo! Check
out the pics on the Body page.
The donor firewall and dash worked out well, and while we were welding, we filled
in most of the holes on the firewall. Bondo/fiberglass work are still ahead, but
when it's all done, it's going to look great!
- Finally looks like I'm over the hump on the engine. After problems with the
Canfield heads not flowing the numbers they should, I sent them off for some
CNC work, and now they seem like they will do well. I also ended up with the
wrong oil pan, and then the wrong gaskets, and so forth/so on. Anyway, the
engine is mostly together now, with just the intake/water pump/dampener to
bolt on. Those should be some soon.
- In the new decisions department, I gave up on ordering custom headers from
Headers By Ed and went ahead with a set of Hooker Super Comps. They are currently
at Paul Berry Motorsports in Atlanta to
be coated. I should have them back just in time to drop the engine in the car! :)
- Other new decisions include a new subframe choice. Unfortunately, ARDF is not going
to finish the development of the custom tubular control arms I was going to use, and
I decided to look elsewhere. Next week I should be receiving my new custom subframe
from Martz Chassis in Pennsylvania. I ordered
the package with the optional Wilwood 4-piston calipers, 12" rotors, 1" front swaybar,
power steering, and a few other little things. Should be a nice setup once it's
completed...
- And finally, it looks like I may be going with the Simmons FR wheels afterall. I spoke
at great length with one of their sales people today. Just so happens that they are
building a custom set for a 2nd gen right now! And, they are building them in 17" x 10"
fronts and 17" x 11.5" rears! WOAH! That's a lot of wheel! So, I think my 17 x 9.5" and
17 x 11" hopes may be ok! We'll see...
