April 20, 2001: AC, pulleys, brake lines again

  • Time for an update... The most major being the install of the Vintage Air Gen II Compact AC/Heat unit under the dash. This was quite a chore, but I think I'll be glad I have it in the North Carolina summers! :) I purchased the unit with the defroster option also, so I had to glue some ducts to the metal dash to make it work. But so far, it's turning out ok! Take a look at the pictures of the install.
  • Even though I don't have any pictures yet, I installed the OER dashpad, or sorta have anyway. I'm not happy with it yet, but I think I'm going to find a way to use the 2 holes above the instrument cluster and that should help. I'll have pics soon.
  • I also installed the rest of the March pulled and bracket set, once I finally received the correct power steering pump housing from AGR to work with the March brackets. If you decide to use this combination, be certain to tell the guys at AGR to send you the correct pump housing for the March brackets. They should know what to send, but the first one I received was wrong! :( UGH! 2 weeks down the drain waiting (don't you really hate that when you research something, ask for all the right things, and you STILL don't get what you asked for????).
  • I have some issues with the rear axle that I'm working on, specifically the rear brake lines. Because the driver's side caliper is so close to the shock, I am going to have to use some braided stainless flex lines from the caliper with a banjo bolt and then connect them to the hard lines on the axle tubes. Great, more $$$ and more waiting to finish something up... UGH!
  • Finally, I'm rethinking my fuel pressure regulator location. I was fortunate enough to see the Twister Camaro at the April Charlotte Autofair a couple of weeks ago, and even meet Kyle and Stacy Tucker (see them here). They had located the regulator at the back of the passenger's side fuel rail, and I'm trying to figure out if there is enough room there for mine. Would make for a cleaner install....
