- Well, I got to have some fun today... NOT! I had to remove the transmission. The Weir
hydraulic throwout bearing was leaking for some reason, so I had to get the thing out
to check out the problems. I also wanted to find out why the clutch wasn't completely
releasing.
- As soon as I cracked apart the tranny and the bellhousing I was greeted by a gusher of
hydraulic fluid. Lovely.. So I get the thing completely apart (it's NOT fun pulling a
T56 by yourself, I don't recommend this to anyone!) and find out that the weld on the
bearing has about 5 points from which fluid is seeping out. Great... It's currently on
it's way back to Weir for replacement. Bob has been great, it's just frustrating to
have to go through this...
- I also discovered that I need a spacer to give the bearing enough range of motion to
completely release the clutch. That explains the release problems. Bob has run into this
once before, and it seems rare depending on your flywheel/pressure plate combination. I
used a lightweight flywheel which I think was thinner than a normal one, and that's
created this problem.
- So hopefully I will get things all back together this coming week and be able to start
my testing/driving! I missed out on a great weekend for it this weekend... Oh well, spring
is coming and there will be more good days ahead! :)
