January 17, 2002: Exhausted...

  • Both me and the car... :)

Today, I had the exhaust installed on the car. I had purchased the following from Dr. Gas:

    • 3" X-Pipe Kit (includes the X and the 45 degree mandrel bends to install it)
    • 3" Input/Output Spin-Tech Mufflers
    • 3" Torque Tech mandrel bent tailpipes
    • Ball & Cone flanges to allow the x-pipe to be dropped out without removing the mufflers.

I had been referred to someone relatively local to me to have the work done. After a week of waiting, my appointment finally came. I borrowed a trailer and loaded the car up, relatively uneventfully, thankfully! :) I set out about 7:30 in the morning for Gibsonville, NC. There I found Serv-U-Servicenter.

I dropped the car off for the day and impatiently awaited the phone call to tell me it was ready. When the call hadn't arrived by 5:00, I headed back to the place to see where things stood... Long story short, I finally drove the car out of the shop about 8:00 and loaded it back on the trailer. And I had a grin on my face from ear to ear! :)

The Spin-Tech's in combination with the X-Pipe sound absolutely awesome!!!!!! I'm extremely pleased with how it all turned out. The only real complaint is that it hangs so low, but unfortunately there just isn't much he could do about it. With all the bends in the X-pipe, there's not a lot of flexibility to mount things up closer to the floor. Oh well, I'll just be REALLY careful over speedbumps! :)

  • Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy of the exhaust:
  • If anyone would like to contact the place to get some exhaust work done (which I HIGHLY recommend if you are in the central NC, or even close, area), give Mike a call at 336-449-4515. He was VERY reasonably prices, took his time and did an excellent job, and was quite a cool car guy to boot! :)
